Welcome to FilTrip, a podcast where we explore everything fun, weird and in between about the Philippines. Hi, Patch.
Hi, Carmina.
Can you believe that this is the end of our Season 3?
Yes.
You can? I cannot believe it.
I mean, I can't believe we've been doing this for three years. The part that I can't believe, it just time flies.
Yeah. It's been a fun season for me. We made some changes.
I mean, our episodes are less frequent.
The reality of post-pandemic life has hit us hard.
Yes. But I am still enjoying and learning a lot.
Right.
Doing our episodes. And I hope our listeners continue to join us every month, and I hope that they learn a lot together with us. Yeah.
I mean, I think part of the reason why we also wanted to make it monthly is to not sacrifice the research that we do, right? Because for me, that's the most valuable thing that I get from hosting this. It's really learning and learning deep.
Right. What would you say was your favorite episode of the season?
I really have to say that it is the Larry Itliong episode. A close “second is the Ilustrado Wooga Squad. Not because of its association with BTS, but okay, a little bit about the association with BTS.
And also, now I'm going to mention all of them.
I said favorite.
I know. It's hard, right? Because the Philippine Village, the St. Louis episode was also so eye-opening for me.
For me, my favorite was the fading Filipino traditions because it was very personal and learned a lot, especially talking to Tita.
Oh, right.
I really enjoyed that.
Oh, how could I not pick the episode that featured my mom and my nephew? Geez, I'm going to sure get it from them now.
Maybe it was subconscious.
Well, first of all, getting them to do it involved some bribing, but I'm so happy that I memorialized them in that episode.
Well, maybe, who knows? We can continue to interview more people in future episodes. You never know.
So if anyone out there wants to be interviewed, we're open for business. Oh, and of course, by the time this episode gets released, it will be Christmas or at least close to Christmas. And I am going home to the Philippines for Christmas for the first “time since I came here in the 1990s.
No, you did not. You went home a couple of years ago.
But not for Christmas.
Oh, but that's true. Okay.
So I'm looking forward to that part because, you know, I really want to do.
Yes.
Simbang gabi, even though I hated it when I was growing up.
Oh, are you really going to do the simbang gabi all of the days or the nights rather?
Now, let's not get it twisted. I did not say I was going to do all of them. I'm going to do at least a few days.
But then, of course, knowing our friends who do it for the Novena portion of it, I'm sure some of them are going to try to make me do it. So I'm really looking forward to that and spending it with my mom over there. So I'll report back when we get back.
Please let us know how it goes.
I'm really looking forward to the food. That did not change from childhood. And I don't know if there's a way for us to post anything, but I'm going to take videos of the spectacular Christmas decorations that “that I'm sure will be at all of the malls.
And the Jose Marie Chan music blasting everywhere.
Yes.
You're going to feel very nostalgic.
I am. And one of the reasons I'm also going there is to celebrate Nona and Timmy. They're getting married.
Congratulations. So exciting. So happy for them.
Yep. And I'm going to represent the two of us there. Don't worry.
And our appetites as well.
Oh, you better believe. I'm bringing your appetite with me. I'm really feeling a little bit nostalgic.
I mean, it's not like we've been on for 30 years, but I'm so grateful to still be doing this with you. After three years. And I really hope that we can continue for a long, long time.
I'm still not tiring of it. I'm still really learning a lot and enjoying it. And you're very quiet, so I hope you feel the same way.
No, of course. Of course, I feel the same way. I'm still learning a lot.
I look forward to what we will be coming up with in our next season. We hope to keep it fresh. We hope to find more interesting and new facts.
This is our specialty, right? Trying to find maybe obscure facts or things that maybe we never knew. And our assumption is that others don't, but maybe they do and we're the only ones who don't know about them.
But I mean, I have a feeling that there are a few folks who will listen to us who do pick up some new things too. And that's one of the things that keeps me going, is that particular purpose.
To our dear listeners, we wish you all happy holidays.
And thank you for continuing to support FilTrip. It really means a lot.
And that's our season. We hope you join us on our next trip.
